Handicap Placards and Street Sweeping (Am I Exempt?)

If you have a handicap placard you may be wondering if that exempts you from getting a street sweeping ticket?

Generally it does NOT. You must still comply with posted street sweeping signs or risk getting a ticket EVEN IF you have a valid handicap placard.

According to Law Soup, if you have a handicap placard you are NOT exempt from:

  • Parking rules for red, white, and yellow curbs
  • “No stopping” zones
  • “No parking” zones (where cars can’t ever park)
  • Street sweeping rules
